Overall Purpose of the Job:

The Desk Engineer (DE) will be based in Tullow’s office Takoradi, Ghana, and is a member of the Jubilee project team. The Expro Desk Engineer primary function would be to liaise with Tullow Oil Completion Engineers to ensure the project flow process is executed in the manner intended.  The Desk Engineer will attend all meetings related to the project, working with Tullow Oil to ensure that all Operational Objectives are achieved.

The DE is a focal point for Expro’s communication with Tullow Oil Jubilee Project Team.


Internally reporting to the Expro Country Manager.


Externally reporting to Tullow Oil’s Completion Engineer.


Perform all tasks in accordance with Expro quality procedures and be fully familiar with group standards.


Interpret and learn client’s Well Test programme/objectives and inform operations to carry out the specific programme correctly and competently.


Produce monthly operations reports for areas of responsibility.

·          Developing relationship with Tullow Oil.

·          The DE role will encompass the full life cycle of managing Expro’s activities from early design and planning to final execution of the Operational Projects for Subsea, Welltest, Sampling and Data Acquisition, ensuring any lessons learned and Operational improvements are fed back into the design.


Job Context and Main Activities:

The DE in conjunction with members of the Jubilee Core Team will ensure the operations are conducted to the optimum standards through:

·          Monitoring and reporting of technical, operational, Quality, and HS&E performance against agreed KPI’s and reviews with Company management.

·            Maintaining a Company “Operations Manual” For All services Supplied.

·            Recording and responding to Company technical enquiries.

·            Recording Company feedback and co-coordinating responses.

·            Weekly reviews of Operational equipment Order’s, Preparation and Equipment status.

·            Coordinate with Engineering Group Welltest Planning Reports for submission to Tullow Oil.

·            Detailed cost estimates to be prepared and submitted for approval to Tullow ensure approved and submit to Expro finance.

·            Review Operational reports

·            Participation in Hazop Investigations.

·            Participation in incident investigations.

·            Provide Equipment technology updates.



Decision making Authority/Level of Supervision Required:

Day to Day Operations as part of the Tullow Oil Jubilee Completions team.

·            Tullow Oil Completions Engineering Dept – Team work taking into consideration Expro’s interests.

·            Product line Supervisors – To insure that all technical information is received correctly and a timely manner and passed onto Tullow Oil.

·            Country Manager for reporting and client feedback.

·            Expro finance for invoicing.

Job Knowledge and Qualifications:

(Indicate minimum knowledge and essential background qualifications necessary to perform the job competently)

·            Qualification: Relevant Degree with area specific Oil and Gas industry knowledge.

·            Experience: 10 years Oil field Operational Experience 4 years of which should be at senior level

·            Job Specific knowledge: 2 Years Operational Planning Office Experience (preferably).

·            Working knowledge of at least 3 product lines specifically Welltest and Subsea.

·            Team player and has excellent communication skills.
